- Tidy up the grounds, porches, garage and basement. Keep lawn cut and raked when needed. Pick up newspapers.
- Your front door is the buyer’s first impression of your home. Give your door a fresh coat of paint!
- Clean windows inside and out…clean blinds and window treatments. Make your home shine!
- A Fresh coat of paint is worth the money. Paint inside and exterior if needed.
- Keep bathrooms clean and sparkling.
- Keep all steps clear of debris.
- When an appointment is set for showing your home, turn on all the lights throughout. A well lighted home is inviting and cheerful.
- Wash dishes and keep counters clean and stain free. Put laundry away.
- Keep your bedding clean and use attractive spreads on beds.
- Keep pets confined when buyer’s are present, keep litter boxes clean and fresh. Keep pet hair vacuumed up.
- If at all possible, leave your home when showings are scheduled. The longer a buyer stays, the better your chances are they will make an offer. When sellers are present, buyers feel as if they are intruding. DO NOT FOLLOW THE BUYERS AND AGENTS AROUND. Let the agent sell your home. Many times an owner points out a feature important to them, but may be negative to the buyers.
- DO NOT DISCUSS selling the buyer any furniture or personal items. Let the agent take care of getting your home sold first. There will be plenty of time to negotiate personal items.
- Never apologize for the appearance of your home. It will only accent or distract from your home.
- If your home is on the market during the winter and fall months, please keep all walk-ways clear of snow and ice.
